Fred Atwell had his first day of court yesterday and it appears that the two Felony charges carrying the greatest potential for jail time were certified to the Grand Jury of the Roanoke County Court System. The two lessor Misdemeanors were Nolle Prosequi. Although it is not uncommon to have charges dropped during the legal process, it is unusual to have the charges dropped in such an obvious case without a plea deal. Sometimes the justice system fails, sometimes it is jsut slow. Time will tell exactly what Mr. Atwell will be facing.

My question is how many soup kitchens, food banks, and churches that offer help to the homeless are there between Hampton and Ronoake?

Update : Fred Atwell allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint in Roanoke Virginia. He has been reportedly arrested in Savannah, GA. Follow link below for more information.

In mid July 2011, Family members of the Colonial Parkway Victims raised concern with details regarding fund-raising events involving Fred Atwell, Jr. Morse Investigation Services looked into this matter and found evidence that at least one fraud had been committed. The family members immediately filed a complaint with the York County Sheriff’s Department and an investigation into these allegations against Fred Atwell ensued. Charges were subsequently filed and Atwell was arrested today.
Really he takes some of the blame? He says every time he tried to say something the family would not listen? Are you kidding me?

Michael Talley Richmond Virginia Police
Sergeant Michael Talley was arraigned Friday on three charges of embezzlement after a Richmond Police Department investigation.
Sergeant Talley has been with the department for over 10 years, and has been featured in many local news cast speaking about home invasions and other thefts. The indictment alleges he stole at least $200 on at least 3 different occasions. Various Media sources report that Sergeant Talley may have stole more than $10,000.00 from police efforts such as the Police Athletic League and Richmond Coalition of Police.
Sergeant Talley will begin his court appearances on August 23 2011.
To be fair to last weeks feature, it is cops like this that make a large group of our citizens unwilling to cooperate with LEO’s or even fearful of them.

Corey Starliper
His Claim is he has broken a 40 year old coded message from the Zodiac Killer originally published by the San Fransisco Chronicle in 1969.

Our Claim -
It makes for a good story, no doubt. However his method is based on an admitted liberal use of imagination while “breaking the code”. The problems in his announced process are many. He claims that there is an area code connection to the Virgin Isles, this area code was not even created until 2 decades after the letter was sent to the San Fransisco Chronicle amongst many other issues with his “work product”. This guy is simply trying to drive interest in his books. Yes it seems that he failed to mention that he is an author in his interviews, I expect that a new book will be released soon about the Zodiac Killer.

It is people like this however that make LEO’s all over the country reluctant to listen to the public. Individuals have done some amazing things outside of law enforcement and there is a hope that one day someone will break this code.
